Município de Lousada

The Municipality of Lousada is an institution of local public administration. Its mission is to pursuit the interests of the population in the territorial space of Lousada Council.

The council of Lousada belongs to the district of Porto and has an extension of 95 Km2. The town assumes itself as the center of the region denominated Vale do Sousa since it is situated in its geographic center. It has approximately 50.000 inhabitants that are distributed within the 25 parishes of Lousada.

The City Hall is responsible to manage some portfolios like education, culture, sports, health, environment, social affairs, housing, tourism, economical activities, employment and other. Consequently we are already involved in the areas that we will develop on the project. We face some problems like poverty, social exclusion, low levels of qualification of our adult population, high level of unemployed people and weak entrepreneurship. In order to fight against this kind of difficulties the City Hall is implementing some interesting projects where we work in collaboration with other institutions in the council that work in the same subject like Social Security, Institute of Employment and Training, Schools, Social Centers and even many private institutions belong to our social network.

We also created a commission to improve literacy and education of the Population, which involves over 20 key-institutions in the municipality and aims to increase the level of qualifications of the entire population, through a holistic approach that involves everyone and in particular older and less educated. We also have the "Employability Office" and the "Office of Investor Assistance" to help unemployed which provides solutions for the community.

Univeritaet Paderborn

The chair Wirtschaftspädagogik II is partner in the SELFIE project and is settled at the department 5: Business and Human Resource Education of the University of Paderborn. The Department for Business and Human Resource Education is one out of six Departments of the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Business Computing at the University of Paderborn. It educates students in the first phase (university phase) of teacher training, adult education, vocational education and training (more precisely: field business and economics) in Germany.

Our department is responsible for business education at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. Our research field is adult education and teacher training. One of our main research topics is career orientation for pupils in the field of VET. We already organized and provided career orientation seminars in the field of VET and especially career orientation in schools for mentally handicapped children. Therefore we like to learn more from our partners about the varieties of career orientation in Europe. We are very sure that career orientation is a topic with a European dimension because the problem of orientation exists in each country and the ways of dealing with it are different due to the different conditions and parameters in the European countries and the cultural settings.

In the university we have a separate accounting department in our Administration which is responsible for the financial management of the project and which already worked on several international, European and national project management and financing tasks.
